At the end of March, Recolight joined the Lighting Industry Federation (LIF) and Lumicom to co-host a series of free regional seminars across the UK examining the “drivers of change for lighting” during 2011.
I presented at three of the events, held in London, Birmingham, and Leeds. My colleague Frank Craven presented at Edinburgh. Over 200 people attended the seminars in total, including leading figures from the lighting industry, manufacturers, importers and end-users. The main focus was the latest developments in LEDs, OLEDs and updates on standardisation. We also had discussions around the latest relevant legislation covering topics such as sustainability and recycling, with a particular emphasis on energy and CO2 reduction.
The half day sessions were very informative and hopefully provided guests with a good opportunity to share updates on the technology and legislative changes currently influencing the lighting industry. It has been apparent for some time that the lighting industry is experiencing an unprecedented level of seismic change in both technology and legislation. What is also now clear, is that our industry is thriving and taking up the challenge that these changes present.
