As reds, golds and silvers take over our nation in preparation for Christmas this December, have you ever thought that Christmas could be completely green? Christmas can quickly become a time to overspend, so I thought I would let you into a couple of my secrets to keep Christmas fun and festive without costing a fortune.
We all know the feeling of opening a present from a loved one and knowing that it is probably going to end up at the back of the cupboard. So why not use my favourite 3 green R's; reduce, recycle and reuse when it comes to Christmas presents too.
There are lots of websites that allow you to swap your unwanted gift for something else or even for cash such as Gift Swap Shop, Love Money, or Freecycle.
Another great way to reduce the number of unwanted gifts you have piling up at the back of the cupboard while extending the festive cheer is to donate them to your local charity shops or hospitals. And of course, you can always re-gift unwanted items - there are no transport or postage costs, and it saves money as you don't need to buy something else later in the year.
I hope that this idea has got you in the mood for a festive and green Christmas! If you have any more ideas, I'd love to hear from you.
