The National Recycling Awards

Date: 26/7/2011

A_NRA11_logo hc-01.pngRecolight has been ‘Highly Commended’ at the recent National Recycling Awards for our dedication to keeping waste lamps out of landfill.  We picked up the accolade in the ‘Electrical and Electronic Recycler of the Year’ category, and are thrilled to have been chosen after being nominated for the second year in a row. Our congratulations go to Fife Council who won the category.

Being ‘Highly Commended’ is recognition of the hard workMRW 4.jpg
that everyone at Recolight puts in and what we have achieved. Not only are we working to ensure that lamp producers, importers and own-branders are compliant with the WEEE regulations, we are also going above and beyond our obligations by significantly extending the national consumer lamp recycling infrastructure: in the past 18 months, we have almost doubled the number of consumer collection points for CFLs through partnerships with local authorities and retailers.

What’s more, we have recycled over 100 million lamps since 2007, an incredible achievement considering that lamps account for just 2% of the EEE (electrical and electronic equipment) put on the UK market.

The team had a great evening, and our own Tracey Hodey got her moment of fame on stage with host Marcus Brigstocke as she presented ‘The Waste Minimisation Award’ to Rob Mouser from repair specialists Plastic Surgeon.
