Producers of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have specific responsibilities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006 (as amended).
A producer is any person who, irrespective of the selling technique used, including by means of distance communication:
As a producer under the WEEE Regulations you have responsibility for the EEE placed on the market and must ensure that it is disposed of in an environmentally sound way when it reaches end of life.. The UK regulations require all producers to join a Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS), such as Recolight, who will discharge their obligations as a producer of EEE.
Producers are also required to ensure the marking of EEE put onto the market to assist with its separate collection at the end of its life. Information must also be made available to treatment facilities in respect of new types of EEE they put on the market.
