Recolight Compliance Scheme
The Recolight Compliance Scheme
Under the WEEE Regulations Producer companies must meet their legal obligations by joining an approved Compliance Scheme (or providing their own Environment Agency approved alternative). Collective schemes not only take on Producer's legal obligations but by aggregation can achieve a critical mass for commercial and operating efficiency reasons and enable the cost-effective outsourcing the of administration, collection, transport and treatment.
The Recolight Compliance Scheme is primarily focused on category 5-13 of the WEEE Directive, and within that relating to Lamps as defined as well as other related Lighting Equipment.
Below is a schematic illustrating many of the advantages of joining a Collective Compliance Scheme. The Scheme takes on Participant member company legal responsibilities and provides the interface with all the elements in the compliance process on behalf of all its members.
The Scheme discharges the responsibilities by putting in place processes and systems that provide for end-of-life lamps to be collected and treated in accordance with the WEEE Regulations. It will also audit the overall process to ensure it is robust, and within this the Scheme will liaise with customers, end users, logistics / transport companies, recyclers, government and the regulators. In addition, it also supports its members in liaising with and providing facilities for their customers and end-users where appropriate.
